Any recommendations for Gatwick Hotel?

We need a decent (but not pricey) hotel near Gatwick for the night before our Las Vegas trip in March. We don't need the parking option as a friend is dropping us off. I know most hotels run a shuttle to the airport, but we would also require a shuttle in the early evening to drop off our luggage at the Virgin twilight check-in desk. Any recommendations welcome (also for evening meal).
Thanks in anticipation.

We stay at the Premier Lodge - it is clean and comfortable, nothing fancy.
Family rooms available (sleep 4).
You can walk to the Airport - genuinely just round the corner, a couple of 100 yds.
Recommend it!0 -
ramada was good, big rooms. we are staying at holiday inn next week. we found it cheaper on active hotels so londontown are giving us £100 cash back so makes it £16 for the night.0

Have a look at http://www.yotel.com/ it's within the south terminal at Gatwick. I've stayed in the standard cabin and would liken it to being on a sleeper train but with ensuite shower, very compact. The bed was really comfy and I would definatley recommend.0

I second the recommendation for the Premier Travel Inn on the Balcombe Rd as being good & reasonably priced, although I wouldn't say you can walk to the airport from there - not with luggage anyway! And they don't, afaik, provide a shuttle service. That side of town is also tricky for the bus, although you could walk through to the industrial estate and catch the 100 service (see this map/timetable - the Premier Inn is roughly at the junction with Radford Rd):

Overall though, you might be better paying a tiny bit more for somewhere that will help you out for the twilight check-in, as taxis tend to be a bit steep - Europa? Gatwick Worth? (Use a local Crawley firm, not the airport cabs who have to pay BAA a slice, if you do use a taxi).

Hi,
The last time we did the Virgin Vegas flight the twilight check-in actually opened in the afternoon. If this is still the case perhaps your friend could drop you at the airport and wait while you check in and then drop you at hotel. Check-in was really efficient and as we were early we got to choose good seats. We checked in online whilst still in Vegas for return trip.
We stayed in Ibis which was nice and clean if on the small side. We ate in the restaurant at the Travel Inn next door which was a short walk and it was nice to get out for a while. Hope you have a great time. Wish I was going again!

Yotel is quality, as is the Hilton. As the previous poster said, Yotel is within the airport and the Hilton is attached - you cannot go wrong with either of these.
I would recommend the Hilton if there is more than one of youMatched Lay Betting Profit £992
