Buying Euros for house purchase - best rate?

Hi,

A friend of mine is buying some land in Spain and needs to transfer about £50,000 into Euros and transfer this to Spain. He is looking at High Street rates which are dismal - please can anyone recommend somewhere he could go to get a good rate and low fees for this?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards

Hifx is who I use. The rates are much better than the high street banks and there are no fees. The more you transfer, the better the rate.

The exchange rate is poor and my best guess is it may improve if he is able to wait a week or two.

  • Many thanks, will have a look at HifX.

I agree, he should wait if possible but has already completed - without a moment's notice - and a relative has paid the money so he wants to transfer money over to repay asap. I've never known the Euro to be so low, hey ho.

He can make an arrangement with HiFx to purchase euros at a date in the future at a rate agreed today.

Not much use in his current situation, but maybe worth noting for the future as I presume he will be building on the plot?
