Credit Card for Expenses?

in Credit cards
Hi All,
I currently do not hold any credit cards. I am in a new job which will from time to time require me to make purchases which I later claim back from the Company I work for, on a monthly basis. I expect these to be around £100 - £200 per month (It will be for things like train travel - Usual on the road Business expenses).
I plan to apply for a card, which I will use purely for this purpose - Making business expenses, putting my claim in, paying off the balance in full each month.
Has anyone got any advice on which card I should go for? I've been looking at the guides and thinking about the Amex Platinum (5% cash back for 3 months, then max of 1.5%) but I really think a Visa or Mastercard would be more suitable, given that I need this for possible last minute purchases when I wont have time to worry about who does and doesnt take Amex.
Any ideas/advice will be much appreciated!

Hia!
There could be a problem here, have you had any loans before?... You said you have never had cards so it could be a case of no credit history.
Okay saying that you have had loans etc and your history is okay and your going to be paying off the card you realy need the best Cashback card.
Amex Platinum give 5% for 3 months and 1.5% after but watch as its not accepted everywhere. Iv got an Amex and you do find that once your away from the high street/supermarkets you will find shops who dont accept.
Next best is the Egg Money card with its 1% and its a Mastercard so no acceptance issues.
Iv got an Egg Money and find it handy and im sure loads of people on here will say the same.
www.egg.com - have a look at the Egg Money card.

If its maximum cashback then Capital one currently offers a cashback card with 4% cashback for the first 3 months then 1% after that, just make sure you read the summary box about elegability, as you need to be squeeky clean for this and similar cards.
If its other benefits you are after then you can get a Nationwide Gold card. It offers up to £100,000 cover for any accidents you have whilst you travel. It also offers fee free transactions abroad (I think the only card provider to do this) and things like 1 years extended warranty for certain electrical goods.
Its also gold, which makes you feel important! hehe ;-) you will also get a guaranteed credit limit of at least £3,000 which may be a problem with applying for the Egg money card (as it gives quite low limits initally)
As mentioned if you have had no credit or cards before then go for a capital one classic to build up your credit history, make sure you make the payments and dont go over your limit and in 12 months you will probably be eligable for the high street cardsINCREASE INTEREST ON SAVINGS!
...I will thank you if youve been helpful, please do the same! :j0 -
Oh !!!!!! I forgot the Cap1 card....... tis a cracker too if you get accepted! Blinking hard to though they set high standards!0

and also they will do the nasty thing of sending you the classic card if you dont get accpted for the platinum onesINCREASE INTEREST ON SAVINGS!

Capital one currently offers a cashback card with 4% cashback for the first 3 months then 1% after that
The 4% for the first 3 months offer has been withdrawn as of yesterday, see this thread:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=706307
Capital One have also removed all mention of the 4% offer from the card details on their website, so it's just a set 1% cash back from the account opening now.0 -
Thank you all for your advice - Shame about the Cap one card, would have been ideal! I'll check out the Egg card. Amex unfortunatley is out due to needing wide acceptance.
Cheers!

Oh dear, no mention of cash back on the egg card now...perhaps its been withdrawn? Any other ideas?0

What about a 0% purchases card? That way you can bank the cash you would normally have spent for about 12 month, getting you rougly 5.12% after tax instead of only 1%?"A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0

Clapton - Thank you, just applied for the egg money card, summary of benefits, in case anyone else wanders into this thread...
- 4% Gross pa/AER variable interest paid on positive balance
(You can pay into it)
- 1% cash back
- 7.9% APR (Thats the quoted 'typical' rate, which is what I got!)
Thanks all for your advice - Much appreciated.0
