Got new WC seat but can't unscrew old one

Options
Any handyman/woman who can help me please?

I've been trying to remove my toilet seat to replace with my new one.

Old fittings (about 8 years old) are bolts with wing nuts underneath.
I've sprayed them with W40, they moved slightly, enough to remove the seat, but I've had spanners and pliers and the damn things won't undo any further.
Help anyone:o ?

use a big pair of pliers or similar and just keep turning. they are usually so rusty that they snap off.
sometimes you can get a hacksaw blade in between the pillars.

most new ones are made of plastic now.
    Get some gorm.

You might have to saw them off with a junior hacksaw.

I wish the damn things WOULD snap off!
Sick of bending over the toilet bowl! Had spanner holding the nut on top while trying to turn wing nut with pliers. Stuck.
Right, I'll try the hacksaw way.
    Ta, ormus and plumb 1
    If it doesn't work I'll be back:D

I know that the OP has finally snapped the bolts but here's an extra tip for seized and rusted nuts:
Try to TIGHTEN the nuts a little first (after applying wd40) then just slacken and retighten as much as necessary until the nut is nice and loose. If you use a wire brush on the exposed thread to remove corrosion the nut should eventually come right off.

That requires effort. I have a Dremel and use the cutting disc if the going gets that tough. :D
