Empire Direct edXtra card

Empire Direct offer 3 years guarantee with the purchase of their edXtra card (£30). Seems like a good deal... but the edXtra card is valid for only 12months. Does this mean after 12 months you need to buy a new one to continue the 'free extended guarantee'.
If this is the case then TWO YEARS of extra guarantee costs £90 (first year is covered by manufacturer). This does not seem as good a deal.
Any comments/ Anybody used the edXtra card?

I bought this card for this, my understanding was as long as you had a edxstra card at the time of purchase you got the 3yr guarantee, but your question made me look closer at the T&C and I see where your coming from, it's not exactly clear is it.
T&C 9 Exclusive member benefits can only be redeemed with valid membership. Membership will be verified with the original transaction. Please keep the original receipt in a safe place as you may be required to refer to this for future transactions.
I will phone them tomorrow and let you know the outcome, tried tonight but they were closed0 -
dld2s - thanks for making the call. Its not clear at all from the T&C and deliberately so I think0

Hi Again,
I phoned ED this morning, I was assured the warranty runs for the full 3 years whether I renew my card or not. Hope this helps,

I think it also guarantees other 'selected' items you may purchase during the life of the card.0

dlds2 - thanks for finding out. I think it would be worth you getting the 3 years guarantee on paper from ED saying it is regardless of whether you renew your card.0

We will probably get one, as soon as we can find the items we want, at a better price, with Empire Direct.
I was originally pretty impressed with some of theor prices, but they have been uncompetitive, on just about everything we want, on the last few searches.
Result is, now relying on the makers warranty (consider the cost of the brands own extended guarantee) & using the Nationwide credit card to get the additional cover 'free'. Plus a tiny bit of cashback, too!
& another thing ED will consider, is pricematch! Spoke to them last week, with a potential order of nearly £3000, said mail them the items & compatitors details & they'd take a look.
Result!! NOPE!!!!! They'll price match - but won't let you apply the warranty extension, to the products, at the lower cost!!
So Boots & Dixons got the orders!!
