Bathroom quotation - Labour Only

I've been given a quotation to refit my main bathroom... 1.8m x 2.3m in size.

I've like to know if the following sounds fair for the £1650 I have been quoted for the labour (and materials mentioned below). I am to supply the bathroom suite, tiles, taps, wastes. Anticipated completion is one week and will include complete tiling of all four walls and floor, and the sinking of pipework into the walls (straw - so extremely messy!) where the existing shower is currently located.

I should mention that I'm in Milton Keynes, so just outside the London area.

Should I ask any further questions before accepting the quote? Is anything else missing that I'm unaware of?
This is the first of 3 that I've invited to quote for the job; the second guy didn't want to do what I wanted, and was more interested in keeping things easy for himself (I also think he'll be expensive). The third gent is visiting this evening so I don't have any clues on that one yet...

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Details:
To remove all existing tiles, suite, radiator, skirting & clear away. Retain electric shower unit.
To reduce soil pipe boxing to low level with air admittance valve.
To alter basin pipe work to accommodate ½ pedestal basin. Fit shower feed pipes into wall.
To rake off Artex, seal & plaster skim ceiling to a smooth finish & emulsion.
To alter bathroom door & frame to open outward (hinged right).
To drill & install 4 low voltage flush fitting halogen lights.
To install new supplied 1700mm undrilled shower bath in reverse position abutting wall.
To fully tile & grout all walls with supplied tiles including any border.
To supply & lay plywood, then fully tile & grout floor area with supplied tiles.
To install new supplied WC & ½ pedestal basin in same as previous positions.
To fit new supplied heated towel ladder in place of radiator.
To fit new supplied shower screen over bath, new shower riser rail & head.
To seal water exposed areas with silicone.
To fit any supplied bathroom accessories.

That sounds brilliant to me. I'm nearly crying here. We paid over £1000 just for the tiling a couple of years ago and don't even remind me how much the plumbing etc cost. Just noticed they are painting and putting up accessories too!

Sounds great and very thorough and complete. Always a good idea to get another quote or two though (easier said than done though eh!)

Sounds good for all the labour. We just had ours done, but we removed tiles and had to dump suite etc which he removed.
    Plumber £550
    Tiler £450

We had to lay plywood too.

It was an unbelievable amount of work so if you can get someone who will be responsible for it all and not have to coordinate it all as we did I would go for it.

We went for individual tradesmen as it was cheaper - we were getting quotes of up to £4800 for our job for it to be completed fully.

Yes, he has been recommended and also grants a year's guarantee on his work, as well as providing references of local work completed. I thought it was a good price, but have gone down the "is it too low?!" route as well! Tonight's blokey was also very thorough and gave us some good ideas, but I think he's going to be pricey (he also supplies his own suites so I suspect the quote will come in higher than I hoped).

Thanks for your thoughts and input; the quote I detailed came from a really nice bloke who listened to what we wanted (rather than telling us what he thought we should have) and I think I'll give him a call tomorrow. He's booked up for 6 weeks now (can't think why!!) but that gives me enough time to get everything that I need to.

    .

You will find a lot of bathroom fitters either wont fit B&Q suites, or dont like fitting them.

When we had our done, our man was relieved we were getting our suite from a proper bathroom shop, talking to one the other day where i am working, and he said the same, that the majority do not like to fit the likes of MFI, B&Q, wickes etc.
  • i fit bathrooms, that straw is called stramming and is a nightmare,we worked on one in Hanslope. you are getting a good price
