Just had a warning from McAfee saying my PC protection will expire soon. They want £45 for another year's subscription but this seems very expensive? I'm no techie, don't even use the computer that often but will feel too vulnerable if I have no protection at all. Any advice anyone? Thanks.

Agree, agree, agree.
My Norton (which came with the system) was due to expire in another week. Now it's no longer there, all gone and the system (strangely) runs smoother.
All I use now (on a Vista system) is
AVG - Antivirus (Free)
Vista Firewall (Free)
Spyware Terminator (Free)
Threatfire (Free)
plus the firewall built into my router.
Plus I have Spybot (run once a week)
and CCleaner (runs on startup)
I came across "Shields UP" which appears (not techy minded) to see how secure your connection is and mine passed with flying colours.
If anyone is interested the link I used for Shields Up is
