Ford C-MAX Automatic Transmission - Any good?

I'm looking to change my Scenic Automatic - either for another Scenic or for a Ford C-Max.

I require Automatic Transmission.

Does anyone know whether the C-Max has a "real" automatic or is it a "multitronic" type. Either way has anyone driven an automatic C-Max? If so, what did you think of it?

Ill be honest and say I don't know - but notice that you've not had any replies!!!

Call fords or go on their website.

My BIL has one - but its manual - nice and roomy.

Thanks, Jeannieblue, I'm still hoping to hear from someone who has actually driven one of these automatic gearboxes. I spoke to a dealer today and he sounded a bit half-hearted about them!

Bit of a review here http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/firstdrives/44859/ford_cmax_zetec_durashift_cvt.html sounds like it could be similar to the merc sprintshift which can be used as an automatic or a push up/down sort-of manual-ish. Tried a Nissan Primera CVT auto many years ago, but preferred the standard auto box (Mondeo aauto box is pretty good).

I'd probably give it a good test-drive before I bought one (but pretty much the same before buying any different car).

Noted on Ford website that only do 2L auto on c max - could be a downer re tax, not sure.

What about s max? Not done any research but heard they are good and nice and spacious.

Thanks everyone. Decided to stick to the Renault Scenic after all - real automatic gearbox and basic model has just been enhanced and now provides all the little goodies we want at a fair price (with web discount)!
