Forgotten Windows XP User Password

Well the title says it all. I seem to remember once previously that I could just press a key and it would let me in anyway but I can't seem to do that aain. I have tried to boot up in safe mode but when I press f8 I get different boot up menus but nothing that says safe mode.

Any ideas on how to get into safe mode so I can reset my password or any other way of getting in?. I don't have the XP disks by the way as I was suppose to have downloaded the disks when I bought it but never did.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you
