All, slightly off-topic but there is a bargain of a holiday I have spotted for next week (13th July I think).
Has anyone been to Egypt this time of year and can you tell me what it would be like - I hear it's *very* hot. Does anyone have any real life experiences?
Thanks
RD

It's *very* hot. Well beyond the tolerance level of an average Brit who wants to go sight-seeing. You'd probably be restricted to venturing out just for short periods and spending a lot of time in the hotel, shops or museums, which are, thankfully, mostly tolerable, some even air conditioned. Personally, I wouldn't go now and would wait until the cooler weather. That is why it is cheap!0

Dont go unless you really are planning to stay by the pool litterally all day without going and seeing anything, it really is much much too hot. If you fancy diving etc at Shama Sheik (sorry cant remember spelling) then its perfectly ok to go at this time of the year, but if you do want to see pyrimids or Valley of Kings and Queens etc, wait until late October or early November when the inland temperatures are still incredably high (approx 40 degrees when we viisted in early November two years ago).
We have been to Eygpt twice once at the beginning of August and once in mid November. When we visited in August, we had plans to go to Ciaro and just couldnt stand the heat but in November we managed, and it is still seriously hot then too.
Only downside I will mention about November is that as it is so late in the year, the sunsets approximately 3.30-4pm so you have a very long evening. Also at that time of the year as the swimming pools are unheated and the sunsets are so early, they are incredibly cold!!!
Im not sure how cheap your bargain is, but bare in mind that it is automatcally cheaper later in the year anyway when you make your decision.0 -
If you go at this time of year you have to adjust your daily schedule to avoid the worst of the heat.
1) Make sure your Hotel has airconditioning !
2 ) Plan any morning outside activities to start at 05:00 and finish by 10:00.
3 ) Expect to sleep between 11:00 and 16:00 or at least be inside an airconditioned room\Museum
4) Evening activities shoud start 17:00 -midnight.
5) Do NOT expect to sunbathe at any time.
6) Take a 'brolly - Not for rain but to protect you against the sun.0
