well not quite, but from April all senior bus passes will cover all local bus services, [not National Express tho']
I am looking forward to roaming the country free of charge, does anyone know of a website where one can plan out long bus journies with these passes. or of any one doing the same?
Rumours of OAPS armed with thermos and packed lunches touring the country FOC are rife, but I can`t find them.
Also does anyone know the longest un broken bus journey that can be undertaken via the local bus systems? [not national express]
cheers

  • https://www.translinc.co.uk do a service between London & Peterborough, takes up to 2 hours roughly about 70-80 miles. Personally I hope the passes are scrapped as this will give my MIL the opportunity to just "pop in" on her way past. *shudder*

Traveline will help you plan a journey using public transport - select "bus" as the only mode :)

Hmm, looks like I'll be paying taxes for someone else's free ride :D
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Apart from the fact that I think that this service is no-more http://leytr.blogspot.com/2007/08/translinc-axe-london-express.html I doubt that it is considered a 'local bus' so the pass wouldn't be valid.

Yep, its a return for the taxes we oldies paid to have you brought into the world, cared for, and educated.

Sadly I doubt I`ll get as much benefit out of my bus pass as you ahve from the NHS over the years.:p

As long as you don't catch a bus before 9.30am you'll be ok, otherwise you will have to pay. 9.29am...pay, 9.30....free.

Depends where. Some councils allow all day travel

http://www.carlberry.co.uk/ has a list (of varying quality) of all bus services with links (some easy to navigate, some not) to companies and timetables
