ICICI HiSave question

Options
I'm thinking about opening an online account with them as a 2nd savings account but it asks during the application process that you need to send them a cheque with a minimum of £1 deposit.

I have a current account but I don't have a cheque book, will they accept a cheque payable from someone else? or does it have to be from me for identidy purposes?

Comments

  • Can you not get your own cheque book? Give your bank a call.

I seldom use cheques these days, but recently had to order a new one so I can claim my Nescafe points. BTW I don't drink Nescafe, just get the tokens off jars at work.

    No they won't.
The whole point is to verify your identity.

The cheque has to be from the current account that you want to link your HiSave account to. So in theory it could be someone else's current account but in practice it might be difficult to get ICICI to accept this.

You would be better off getting a cheque book (or possibly a counter cheque?) for your current account.

Whoa! That font is contagious! :rotfl:

OP, as others have said, the cheque is used to verify the account is yours. The cheque therefore needs to bear your name and signature.

And be from the account that you gave ICICI for the direct debit mandate.
