Credit card charges on foreign transactions.

I have used Goldfish credit card abroad for years and have always found their exchange rate reasonable on foreign transactions. However, I have just been charged 3%, i.e. £15.76 (forex commission) on a US dollar transaction - this must be new.
So now I need to find a Credit Card which will not charge me exhorbitantly on foreign transactions - any ideas. We always pay the card off straight away without incurring interest so cash back would be useful.

It is probably not new it was probably just hidden before. Most credit cards charge at least 2.75% commission on foreign transactions but hide it in their exchange rate.I have used Goldfish credit card abroad for years and have always found their exchange rate reasonable on foreign transactions. The only ones that do not are the Nationwide Visa and Post Office Mastercard.0 -
As KoF says, this is normal but not always shown separately - it always used to be included in the exchange rate which meant you never knew you were being charged. Goldfish charge 3%, which is only slightly higher than most other cards at 2.75%.
If you use a card abroad often, definitely look at NW and PO.0
