Looking at staying at the gatwick airport travelodge and wondered if anyone could tell me how close it is to the airport. I will have a car and was going to use a meet and greet service. Thanks

You can see one of the runways from the upper floors. We were parked over the far side of the north terminal at the summer special car parking and it took us about five minutes to drive to the Travelodge.0

It's very close. Basically just a fence between the Travelodge and the airport. Mind you it's a probably the worst Travelodge i've stayed in. You have to pay to park as well by the way. It's my problem, it's my problem

Agree, its the worst I've stayed in too.
First time staying: fire alarm went off at 2am, hotel evacuated.
Second time staying: someone had nicked the bolts attaching the toilet to the floor.
Tried to move room, mouldy and damp, went back to first room and sat on toilet very carefully...
Third time staying: checked into my room and someone else's luggage was in there. If I was less honest I could have nicked their valuables. Not good enough.
Fourth time staying: there's not going to be one.
I know other people stay there regularly without incident, I'm just not one of them!
You can however park on the street outside for free if you can get a space nearby. Don't leave valuables in car overnight though.
In addition to the Summer Special Parking, its very close to BCP/Q Park or whatever they are calling themselves these days (off airport parking), which is quite handy. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? The local Gatwick Ibis hotel is nearby and currently has £10 off a room making it very competitive with Travellodge. We have stayed at the Travel Lodge with no real complaints (due to the £19 or £26 room for 4 persons) but stayed this month and our room was dreadful, still we just laughed and got on with it. We parked in the street outside. Will try the Ibis and also used the Ramada Plaza Gatwick £56.00 for a 4 person room but a lot better than the Travel Lodge! No Matter what you do there will be critics.0

Yep, the only bonus when we stayed was the price of the room. I had to laugh when our friends who we were holidaying with asked for a hairdryer and were told
"sorry they're BOTH in use" :rotfl:It's my problem, it's my problem

I've got a flight from Gatwick in March and was looking to book at the Travelodge at Gatwick for the night before but was put off by reading reviews of it at TripAdvisor. I ended up booking the Travelodge in Dorking, just 10 minutes away as the reviews seemed much better, and only £29.
It seems some Travelodges are really dire and some are OK, definetly worth looking at reviews before you book.0 -
Very bad travel lodge. I took some pictures of the terrible condtions and they ended up giving me a refund. I still have the pictures if you would like to see them.0

i must of been lucky cause i have stayed there twice , and had no problems either time. we walked to the airport ( without cases ) and it is bit tricky due to no signs ect but it only took 10 mins.
summer special parking is okay , and the bus for runs regularBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
