Sounds like out-let pipe must be syphoning dregs back in-to the machine foul water fault? plus you cant expect fresh washing unless you do high temperature washes continuously for a few weeks at least? !!! Check out-let? clean soap despenser? and Filter? clean door seal? definitely change your detergents and conditioner? no more low temp rubbish Try Persil or Areial for best results!! Still sounds like a plumbing issue ?:T Southwest washing machine repairs.
  • Hi
I also had a problem with a very smelly washer and consequently smelly clothes. I tried all the suggestions including putting bleach through the machine - I nearly gave up and was ready to go and order my new machine :-( - but then I read on one of the forums a suggestion to use bleach but to put two cups of bleach into the drum and start the machine on a rinse cycle and let it fill up with water then stop the machine (with the bleach in the drum) and leave to stand overnight. i did this TWICE and I must say the smell seems to have gone - fingers crossed !
I also used to wash at 40 deg with non-bio powder but read that this could have been part of the problem so now have gone back to washing on minimum 60 deg and will use biological powder in future.
It seems to have worked for me so it's worth a try.
  • Not necessary to use bio all the time, non bio, but one wash a week use a bio product .

I have found that when machine has finished a wash, put a litre or so of half thin bleach and water in the door so that an 1" shows in bottom of drum and by hand swirl the drum back and forth vigorously . This distributes it around the drum and casing. leave till morning then drain and use machine, do this once every 2 months.

  • The secret to get rid of persistent washer odor is to use a cleaner that can be used with laundry. The added bulk of clothing will raise the water level to include the splash area just above the normal waterline. More tips include:
    1. Using mainly cold water is fine but makes preventive maintenance very important. A hot wash as your last cycle on wash day will help dissolve and flush out odor-causing residue.
    2. Many people leave the door open. This does work to reduce odor by drying out residue. However, it makes the residue much more difficult to remove. Also, the residue is still present upon the next wash.
