Tesco Price Checker

Options
My local Tesco has a large banner declaring that its prices are on its website along with prices at Asda, Morrisions and Sainsbury.
Fancying a few beers yesterday, and living in between a Tesco and an Asda I checked the price of 24 cans of Carlsberg on Tesco.com and it said £9.98 in Tesco and Asda.
Since my mum lives near Tesco, I thought I'd go there and drop in her as well. On arrival at Tesco the in store price was £14.99!
I raised this with the manager who said the prices on the website were out of date (and it did say when the prices were collected 27-29 June). When I put it to him that this made it a little bit pointless and it was at best, misleading, he said it was clear enough to him.
However, he did honour the £9.98 price, without accepting that the prices on the website were incorrect or misleading.

So, if you go onto Tesco.com to check a price, be warned that it may not be that price in store at all!

What a cheek, no wonder they are the leading supermarket if they put prices up just like that, most people wouldn't notice on a big shop.

I used it recently when I wanted a bottle of single malt Whisky for Father's day. They kindly told me that Morrisons was £5 cheaper so I went there!
Fiscal drag, that's my problem. Too many people dragging on my fiscals.

It's rather pointless really. For a start prices are not set nationally, they will be different across stores, depending on local competition. Secondly, they're hardly going to advertise a product that is more expensive than their rivals!

But Asda has this on BOGOF so what does this mean exactly?

Oh another one that's also bogof (going back with car tomorrow )

    PEPSI/DIET/MAX 6 X 330ML £2.19 £2.19 £2.19 £2.18

    * All prices listed were collected between 15 August 2005 and 17 August 2005 - about as useful as a winter coat in high summer then.

BOGOF is buy one get one free. So they are effectively half price. If its still on offer thats the place to go.

I was in my local Asda last weekend and they are letting shoppers cash in Tesco and Sainsbury's vouchers! It stunned me. The lengths these supermarkets will go to to get custom. Sorry if you already know about this but I dont go to Asda very often as, although I say it's my 'local' store, its actually 13 miles away. But hey, my nearest Tesco used to be 15 miles away. The nearest one now that's just been built is 12 miles and located almost opposite Sainsburys and in front of Asda!

    After checking on these sites:

    and

My boyfriend went to Morrisons to get the the malt whiskey and the shelves had been cleared. 'Sorry' was all the shelf filler said to him!
