Yes, as long as you have somewhere warm to put the yogurt once you've made it. Where I used to live I would make up yogurt in a plastic pot, wrap my warmed (clean) dressing gown round it and put into the airing cupboard overnight, and voila! set yogurt in the morning! Unfortunately where I live now I don't have an airing cupboard and use an Easyo Yogurt maker thingy that my mother gave me.
But I don't buy the Easiyo packets, I use UHT skimmed milk etc, much cheaper!0 -
I've just looked for some homemade cheese recipes & quite like the idea of trying to make some. Any tips?0

I personally use uht milk, or fresh milk if it is reduced in the supermarket. Buttermilk is also gorgeous made into yoghurt.
For the cherry syrup I just use one of those jars of cherries from Lidl and carry on as if jam making, just adding more water to get a runnier consistency than jam.0 -
If you are freezing a starter how much would you need to freeze and how would you de-frost it? I like the idea of not having to buy a starter every 5 or 6 times I make it.
Can I use Easi-Yo packets in my lakeland yogurt maker? I would like to be able to try making flavoured yogurts.
Has anyone done much experimenting with flavouring before making the yogurt. I've read different success and failure stories!
Does anyone know if you can make hard cheese or mozzerella without forking out for an expensive kit?0 -
I make natural yogurt and we add the flavouring as we eat it, such as stewed fruit, honey, dried cranberries, oats, muesli etc. When I forgot to make some once and had to buy some instead OH didn't like it and said it tasted "artificial".0

I tried putting a piece of kitchen roll on the top of each tub of yogurt that I made yesterday and that seemed to take some of the whey off.
Is there anything I can make with the whey? I know it's only really watery but it seems a shame to tip it down the sink. Doesn't seem very Old Style!0 -
