Goodness,
I actually found something on the paypal help pages today and it looks like they have simplified the help system, at long last!
I was checking whether there were any updates on the 'proof of delivery' requirements due to a few users suggesting that recorded delivery was not an option accepted by paypal (it is BTW). Instead of the usual rubbish and endless searching I got the following which I will cut and paste. I don't think I can link to it though as it will just take you to the paypal log in, but if I can take a screen grab I;'ll add it to the useful hints thread. For the first time ever it clearly states that items must be posted within 7 days to qualify for selelr protection. Before that has been hidden away.
To get this infomation I just used the search key word 'recorded delivery'.

Key rules of Seller Protection
Ensure that the item is “Eligible” for Seller Protection, as displayed in your ‘Transaction Details’. Your ‘Transaction Details’ are in your PayPal email receipt. You can also find your ‘Transaction Details’ by logging in to your PayPal account and clicking on ‘Detail’ next to the relevant transaction.
Only transactions between UK, US or Canadian buyers and sellers qualify
Post to a confirmed address, as displayed in ‘Transaction Details’. This ensures that the item goes to the buyer at an address we have details of.
Retain proof of postage that can be tracked online, such as Royal Mail’s Recorded Delivery. If you hand deliver an item, or provide delivery in a way that we can not track online, your transaction will not qualify. This includes items posted with first class postage.
For items with a value of £150 or more, you need to provide proof of signature from the recipient
You must be Verified, and have a Premier or Business account
Post the item within seven days of receiving payment
Only accept payments in full from a single PayPal account
Please respond to all PayPal enquiries within the deadlines as disputes need to be resolved within a specific time frame.
These are just some of the key rules of Seller Protection. Please refer to our Seller Protection Policy for full terms and conditions

Also worth noting that seller protection does not apply to those sellers (if any) with basic account.
Just noticed this as well "Only accept payments in full from a single PayPal account", so when the scammers notice that I assume we will be paid in two goes or something to nullify our seller protection.
This new clarification of the rules is well worth reading in depth, there is a few little gems hidden in the policy. I think most of us will still find we are perfectly safe, but I think newer users or those who are slightly more naive on ebay may find themselves unprotected. The 7 days posting requirement will certainly hit a few casual users who only ship once a week and may technically miss the 7 day deadline.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
