Balance Transfer With Barclaycard Denied

Hi, I have just received my new Barclaycard and proposed to do a BT from my Halifax One card because it has just come to an end. I filled out the form online with Barclaycard and have just received an email saying it has been declined. My limit with Barclaycard is 4900 and I was transferring 3000. Can anyone please tell me why?

  • My partner was told yesterday that he couldn't have an existing customer balance transfer without any reasoning behind it, except for that he "didn't have any offers on his account at present". They told him not to even bother applying!

No I haven't rang them. Do you think it is worth it? As far as I know I have a good credit score, never defaulted any payments - mortgage, loans, credit cards. I am on the electoral register and have lived at the same address for 20 years!

Nearly all their cards promote 0% on BT for new customers so for them to turn you down just makes no sense??! I'd ring them and try to do the BT over the phone, if they decline you again, tell them to stick the card
  • I think it's a problem with Barclaycard software.

I did BT online and had same email. There was a tel no to ring, so just rung them and they said they had been having probs and processed the BT over the phone.

    So give em a ring

  • Hi there - I can confirm what flutterbyuk25 says.

I tried to do a balance transfer online myself, got exactly the same message back via e-mail, panicked and rang them.

The person on the phone said that the problem is with their online system. At the moment it will only do balance transfers at 6.9% and not the agreed 0%, took two minutes over the phone and everything was fine.

I can sypathise as I panicked straight away but all was well.

  • Last week I applied for the Barclaycard Platinum 6.3% LOB card, I got the whole way through the online application, pressed submit and a message popped up saying there was a fault and it had not been processed. At this point I lost the will to live and couldn't be bothered to do it all again.

However, yesterday my card arrived through the post! Credit limit of £2250 which is enough to transfer balance off my 16.9% Cahoot card.
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time
