Moving Help with contacting utilities etc.

Hi all,
Very traumatic time. I am moving from a furnished flat to a house. Getting stressed out over who I have to contact and where I will get the best deals. Is there any comprehensive advise on here about house moves regarding home insurance, gas, electricity, broad band connection, telephone connection, Sky? Who reads the meters in the old place and the new? Feeling very overwhelmed.
Also who do I inform about changes in address? There is always someone important that you forget.
Does anyone have a check list that they can share with me?
Thanks all in advance.
Taffy

    Hi.

    Try http://www.iammoving.com/

It's the first place I go when notifying companies where I'm moving from/to.

For best deals on utilities etc, see the tab 'UTILITIES PHONES' etc for deals. You must read the gas, electric & water meters the day you move out/in.

For water, it may be cheaper (unless you have a large family) to have a water meter installed if the new property doesn't already have one. Simply contact the water company for your area and ask - fitting is free.

    Good luck.
