That looks fab. I will have to attempt one myself soon. :T

So, if I'm being your inspiration, what do you want adding to the index?

Off to the pub, so you have plenty of time to decide. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

The Willy (William) Rushton book "Superpig": there are 67 on Amazon at the moment.
He will tell you how to roast a lamb next, make ashepherd's pie, rainbow -coloured spaghetti, etc etc.......
have fun - Percy the chicken looked excellent!

Loads left over :D Just been picking away at it and boxing up the leftovers.

Got enough for fajhitas tomorrow and enough for a curry AND a pie! could also have made stock from the bones but decided that was a task for next time I roast a chicken.

So my £5 chicken gives enough meat for 4 meals for 2 people not bad at all. It probably could have gone further as we had loads on our plates tonight plus fajitas(so can't spell that) use quite a bit of chicken. Think if I didn't do them I'd be able to do 4 more pie/curry portions, so 5 meals for 2. Plus soup once I try making stock.

    A pavlova! Yum

I was going to suggest souffle but thought that was a bit mean.

My next thing to try(other than the chicken pie and curry) is beef wellington, never had it before but it looks interesting.

Looking forward to my new cookbooks getting here especially the fast cakes one.

Fantastic! I try to get two meals for 4 out of a 3.5lb chicken, plus stock, but it's a stretch with feeding my family of carnivores :rotfl:
  • Well done Sparklewing looks like your first roast chicken has been a complete success!! Lovely pictures and the cat is sooo cute. I'm 43 and cooked my first roast chicken 5 months ago so I'm still a novice but I must admit my kids love it when Sunday comes around for Mums best roast!

  • I did roast beef the other week for the first time, it wasn't too hard although I cheated and had aunt bessie yorkshires.

See, I think this is more difficult than a chicken. I wouldnt even know what piece of beef to buy :o But I can do yorkies. Delia's way I think.
