Printer Wont Print Black

I have a Lexmark Z55 and recently refilled the black cartridge. The refilled cartridge worked fine straight after refilling (only printed a couple of pages) but now after 2 weeks it doesn't print.

I've cleaned the nozzles with aftershave (!) on a cotton bud, wiped them on kitchen roll, sat them on damp kitchen roll and cleaned the heads umpteen times.....still not a hint of black ink on the page (the colour's fine). I've also put more ink in and cleaned the nozzle with the special impregnated cloth in the refill kit.

Is it worth me buying a new Lexmark cartridge for £20 or shall I just get another printer? (I've had this before with Epsons and have had to replace them).

Dunno if this helps, but we were looking for a printer for our pc and the guy in PC world told us that Epson printers are notorious for not printing properly, something to do with them using ink everytime u start them up, and HP dont, this in turns clogs the printing head and they dry out and are useless......Not sure if this would apply to your lexmark printer..
