Check the Ts&Cs
Will your research software impact my phone bill?
It depends on the details of your messaging and wireless Internet/data plans. Upon initial installation, the software will send one SMS text message to the M:Metrics server. Whenever the software detects that the SIM card on your smartphone has been switched, it will send an SMS text message to the M:Metrics server. If you are paying for individual text messages, charges for these will appear on your bill. Additionally, the software initiates wireless Internet data connections to the M:Metrics server to send the data records it has collected. The software is optimized to keep these data records as small as possible but, if you have a wireless Internet plan where you pay for every byte of data sent or received, you will see these additional charges on your bill. The software will periodically update automatically to the most recently released version. During the update process a new software version will be downloaded from the M:Metrics server. Depending on the details of your mobile data plan you may incur charges related to the download of the newest version. You can log into our Panel Member Site at any time to see the amount of data that has been sent from your phone. Go to http://www.mobilepanel.co.uk and login using the email address and password you provided when you originally joined the panel. If you can't remember your password, you can request to have it sent to your email address from the login page. Or, contact our Panel Member Support Desk via email at support@mobilepanel.co.uk.0 -
What's your point? I have read the T&Cs. It didn't send one text message, it continually sent international text messages until I uninstalled it. I wasn't talking about internet access.
And they're still refusing to pay me my £15 sign up bonus, even tho my phone bill clearly shows the texts made by their software.
I wouldn't recommend anybody uses this, but it's up to the individual.0 -
just installed this, when/how do you get paid?mc.peanuts wrote: »Hey everyone,
Saw this and thought it was an easy way to make money.
If you have a smartphone, these guys will pay you to install some software which monitors your usage. I'm using it now and it doesn't interfere with your usage at all. All it does according to the website is send back info on what you browse on the internet.
When you install the software, they pay you £15 straight up, and then £5 every month after that. I also noticed it's on Quidco now, so you can pick up another £11.50 straight away (or £15.50 if you're female)
Here's the quidco link: http://www.quidco.com/mmetrics-ltd/0 -

My point is, It doesn't appear if anyone else is having problems with this.
I think maybe you should write to them, and send a copy of your phone bill showing the repeat texts, if that is what happened.
Do you by any chance have 2 sims in your phone, as the T&C's state your phone will send a text each time the sim is changed. The software might be constantly detecting a change of sim. Just a thought. Or maybe you have a virus on your phone or your phone is faulty. Just thoughts too. Don't get upset with me, only trying to help.
I signed up on 1st April. Quidco tracked straight away at £11.50 with a payment date showing of June 2008.
I received a cheque through the post for £15 this morning.
So far, as far as I am aware(I'm on prepay, so don't have a bill to check) I have been charged for 1 text message on the day I signed up. If I've been charged any more, I haven't noticed.0 -
i used this last year and got cheque within a month and they were very good

I've signed up, no text message problems though.
The website says they are due to send out the next payment in Oct 08 for £30 (Signup + £5 per month)
I have a surfing allowance in my contract so no extra charges either. PAYG should be aware of that, but it is a tiny piece of data which is sent.
Quidco payment was a nice bonus.NO RAIN - NO RAINBOWS

If you google "smart M panel" it should come up, i think it is about 3 or 4 down. I have been using this for approximately 2 years now and never had a problem, I receive a cheque on time when they say they are going to. It works fine for me. Hannah:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"
