The Chief Executive of HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland) is a Mr James Crosby, if you're still going to send him a message.Scott0

I have left a message with the branch manager. If she doesnt contact me on Monday or if she does but I get no joy of it or at least some understanding of why this has happened I shall write directly to him. Many thanks for that.0

Just had a word with an independent broker. I explained my case to him and his suggestion was that since they had a "very good" relationship with the Halifax, he was going to try and negotiate my case with them.
Nevertheless from their attitude towars with me on the phone (blantent decline, theres no going back etc) Im not very hopeful. We'll see what monday brings but my instinct is telling me to give up on the Halifax altogether. The problem of course is timing since they have wasted all that time with my application...0 -
UPDATE: well needless to say that the broker was unsuccesseful! They basically told him they wouldnt change their minds. I am now waiting for a branch mangaers number so that I can put my point accross to them and at least get my valuation fee back!Very unhappy0

Oh you poor thing, don't let this all distract you from your mission though, Can the broker help you with finding another lender who is a better option?0
-
He's trying although the reason I went with the Halifax in the first place is because I only have enough for a 3 per cent deposit (im a first time buyer) but I do need to move into this property as the job prospects are much better in the area and it would be twice as expensive to rent.
Hes looking into a 100 per cent mortage for me but things are very uncertain now with all the carry on wth the halifax credit checks etc.0 -
I'd defo look for another lender, they don't deserve your service.
I hate HBOS, their customer service is awful and they know NOTHING about the laws they have to follow, in my experience.Scott0 -
Couldnt agree more Scott!
Just spoke to the mortgage area manager who apologised, refunded my valuation fee and said they would be quite willing to offer me a 75 % mortgage (which he said it meant they would take it as a second home)! Fat lot of good that is to me as Im a first time buyer and theres no way I could raise the 25%!!0 -
A quick update: I got an IFA from the Guild of Professional Mortgage Advisers. Has anyone heard of them?0
