Ceramic Tiles v Laminate floor - conservatory - discuss please!

Hi,
My 5.6m X3.6m conservatory is being built while I write. I did extensive research about conservatories before I decided to bring the (very) old one down and go for the new one. Flooring is definitely the difficult decision after the roof.
The base of the floor is made in two ways.
1. Concrete screed on top of Damp Proof Membrane on top of concrete base foundation.
2. Chip board on wooden joist on top of DMP .......as above.
On top of this is the floor whether it is wood or vinyl or ceramic or laminate.
Concrete screed is cooler and feels cool under the feet when it is very hot (south facing/hot summer)
Wooden base is excellent choice if you are going to use your conservatory about 8 months in a year. Just open your windows when it is very hot.
I am going for Wooden base> woodfibre under flooring> wood. During cooler months I'll throw in rugs and a couple of sheepskin.
I hope this is useful to you. If you need more advice please ask.0 -
We went for ceramic tiles in the end and absolutely love them. They are EXACTLY what we wanted. Don't make the room cold, the room holds a lot of heat as we paid that bit extra for a glass / argon-gas filled tinted roof.
A perfect conservatory which never gets too hot and (so far) never gets too cold.
And our tiler was brilliant and laid them beautifully.
Money well spent; thanks for all the replies
(BTW, this was a worthy investment, we're not moving from this house now!!!)That's Numberwang!0
