Aldi Digital Photo Processing - Opinions?

I thought I would gave the Aldi on-line digital photo service a try for some cheap and cheerful prints. What a nightmare!!
It took my credit card details but the photos would not upload, mainly because it seemed to be sending them to a site in Germany and it was soooooo sloooow! So it failed, but they have my credit card details and possible payment. I have left a message on the customer service tab but am very unimpressed.
Should have known better I suppose.
Anyone had any success with this service?

Sending to germany shouldn't be slow per se. Could've been problems at either end.
I got an email from them today about the 4p prints they're offering just now, and was considering testing the service, but maybe I won't now. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

Indeed it shouldn't but the actual Aldi site gave an impression of being sluggish. I know that I can upload photos perfectly, as I do so to my on-line gallery hosted remotely.
BTW, just did a bit of Google'ing and found that the Aldi Photo Service reputation is not good. One person gave it 1 out of ten in a review.

I found the site over-complicated. You had to download various java progs which I'm not in favour of. There are plenty of others available with less hassle.0

My experience was completely different.
Essentially faultless. I followed the instructions and was soon uploading my photos. Like any new software you have to put in a bit of effort - but now I know how it's easy. I uploaded 20 photos, all fairly large files - 1 to 2 mb. Rember uploading is much slower that downloading. Just left it to get on with it. Finished about 10.30 pm last Tueday - my 20 prints 8 x 12 " arrived on the Thursday ! - excellent quality on Kodak paper. All at 35 pence each plus postage of £1.33. Also got e-mails saying order received, order dispatched etc. Give it a try ! ( I am not linked to Aldi / Medion in any way).

I have never tried Aldi but I would highly recommend https://www.photobox.com
Picture quality is always excellent and delivery times are very quick.
If you sing up with them they even give you 40 free prints!!
Every little helps!0 -
Just to let you know I have tried the online photo service and would NOT recommend it to anyone. Although I am a fan of Aldi generally their photo service does not live up to their usual standard. Unless you download the software to your PC then the online service is rather unwieldy. Once I had downloaded the software (and registered 3 times for various aspects of the service) I then set about trying to make a photo book. The software for this kept freezing (I am running Vista but I would have hoped that a new service would be able to deal with that) I finally completed a 26 page hardback book + submitted it to the website. On the 4th try it finally uploaded + I entered my credit card details and the voucher code (entitling me to 50% discount on the aforementioned book) Once I had done this I was told that the total price of £20.32 was to be deducted from my card - this surprised me as a 26pg book with 50% discount + p+p should have cost £9.83! I looked at the order and realised they had charged me for a 34 page book, which was not eligible for the offer. There was no online facility to cancel my order, so I then emailed them and was told I would get a response in 2-3 working days. As I thought that would be too late to stop the order I telephoned them straight away (on a premium rate number) + was told that the people who did the processing didn't work weekends but that a message would be passed on to them. I called back on Tuesday to find out what was happening about my order as I had heard nothing. I was then told (after being put on hold twice - apparently they aren't allowed to call you back) I was eventually informed that they couldn't cancel my order or refund the difference between what I was charged and what I should have been charged. I have been told the only way to get my money back is to return the album once it has been delivered - no doubt costing more time and money. I am very disappointed with the customer service I have received and will definitely not be using them again!0

worst service ever waste of time, messed up our order and then took ages to try and get it sorted .... still not going someware else now
AVOID ALDI PHOTO0 -
Fantastic service. Used many times. Although its best to download the software I find it easy and powerful. I do all my printing now to photobooks and the quality has always been astonishing and good value.
Not had any problems uploading ever, my last order was for a set of photobooks containing 450 high resolution photos!
If there are some special shots my tip is to make it the background on a page and not add anything else on it, that way you get a stunning A4 borderless print. Save the best shot for the cover as that looks great too.
Personally I would never advise anyone, to avoid anything, just on my own single experience - it might just be that its me screwing up not the supplier.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0
