I currently have an HSBC student account, and i am looking to open another student account. In particular i am after the money they give you to start with. After a bit of research it seems that currently many of the banks are not doing this deal. I was thinking about Natwest but currently it seems they arent offering a cash alternative to the railcard. Any ideas please

If you read the T&Cs the majority of card providers stipulate that you can only have one student card at anyone time, and they will normally ask you to pay in your loan there too!
So if you already have a student account with HSBC very likely that you won't be able to open another one. (what year are you in?)
Also this is really cheating the system and benefitting from the banks perks, to want you to bank with them. (I know they earn a lot of money blah blah blah!).
Also the offers should only be treated as frivolous additions as it is the overdraft limits and other student support facilities that you should really look at.
Also have a look in the student monet saving sub forum, may be of more use for you!
