Sauce for salmon

My family likes HM tartare sauce. We use lite mayo (in the interests of our health!) finely chopped gherkin, seasoning and if you can get capers, that's good. I haven't found them locally yet.
I love tartare sauce - does it taste as good as the bought stuff?

a bit late in posting but one i had tonight thanks to my mother!! seriously simple to make
melt 1oz butter in saucepan, stir in 1oz plain flour, cook for 1 min
remove from heat and stir in 1/2pt semi skimmer milk, return to heat and bring to boil, stir gently to make smooth sauce, simmer for 3 mins, stir in grated zest and juice of half a lemon and 1tbsp of freshly chopped chives.
serve!!
makes 4 portions, does anyone know if this will freeze well?0 -
some lovely ideas there, thanks. Not cooking it til the weekend so plenty of time, I think ill try the lemon one.
It should freeze fine too as white sauce isnt a problem. Bonus as ive got a lemon to use up aswell !0 -
We quite often have this 'no cook' sauce, which goes well with salmon and other oily fish. Mix creme fraiche (you can use the light version if you like) with horseradish sauce, to taste.Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0
