Flashing Red Light

The red light on my CPU keeps flashing and all the colour goes from my desktop icons when I'm not using them. Is my PC trying to tell me something?

Comments

  • Sounds like it's going into some sort of standby mode. I know when I start to close down XP, the colour drains from the desktop. Not entirely sure where the setting for auto standby is located, as I'm in work, but if no-one else finds it before then, I'll get it this evening.

Control panel--Power options. Check what the settings are for system standby. I usually have mine set to 1 hour.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Can anyone advise on whether the above settings need adjusting?
    Thanks
  • Change the turn monitor off to 20 mins. This means it will be 20 mins of idle time before the monitor switches off. Also change turn hard disks off to never. Also switch standby and hibernates to never. This should solve the problem.
