Argos - Bad Service

Hi,
I've calmed down now, after an extremely frustrating 50 mins in my local Argos store!
Went in, small queue, paid for a shelf unit.
There were a lot off ppl waiting for their items however, and only 1 girl serving. After about 20 mins the shelf unit arrived. It was broken.
The guy on one side of me also had a broken item, and the guy on the other side had a mis-numbered item so it was not what he wanted.
Then stood in queue for refund. About 70% of ppl seemed to be getting refunds, queue was out the door, another 25 mins of my life. No apology from girl on till when I complained.
So 50 mins, no item.
Its been a while since I was in Argos, but I'm sure they used to be better than this.
Cheers,
karen

Nature of the beast I guess. Some days are slower than others, and with the type of shop where you can't get a feel of the item you are going to buy, there will always be a lot of returns. Just sounds like a bad day at the office for Argos.0

why would she need to apologise?! shes only there processing refunds which u got.0

I wouldn't consider it bad service either, you got a refund, them refusing to give you a refund would be, in my view, bad service.Winnings

Argos are being rather tight with staffing levels at the moment. Most stores will be running on minimum staff after letting go of the xmas temps. We've had a very busy day today with just 3 people to cover the tills, jewellery, customer services, picking and collection. All it takes is for 1 customer to purchase 15 items (as one did today) and it throws us all out. I understand how frustrating it can be when you're stood in a queue that doesn't seem to be getting any smaller, but give us a staff a break, it's not always our fault.0

Any employee who doesn't apologise on behalf of the shop for supplying defective goods should be sent on a training course for basic customer service. Please note - Apologise on behalf of the shop not personally. It doesn't matter how busy or understaffed they are, a quick "sorry about that" goes a long way and doesn't take lot of extra effort surely?0

Hi,
sorry, but I guess I should have just let them sell me a load of broken old tat for good money  Me and a load of other people.... And be greatful for it!
Some of you people have very low standards of customer service, in my opinion. Its not much to ask that they check that the item doesnt have a gaping hole in it before handing it over.
It was near Bsaildon, Essex.
Cheers,
Karen0
