does it have any AV Inputs at all?? In other words a red, white & Yellow socket?

If so you can get a Scart to AV Converter for a few quid
  • if you get hold of one of the old ex itv boxes, eg nokia 9850 try ebay, then they have an rf out(aerial lead) so you would just need to tune a channel in to it

If you have no A/V inputs then you require a box that has the capability of adding a UHF channel to the existing aerial input and passing this additional signal to other receiving apparatus. Many video recorders do this and the presence of these signals can interfere with reception of signals received directly by the aerial. It is often preferable to turn off the RF ouput when it is not being used or move the channel number away from existing channels in use.
Unfortunately some set top boxes do not support this feature and mearly pass through the incomming UHF signal without the adding a UHF output channel.
My original Philips ITV/on digital is ideal for my needs. There is probably a wharehouse full of them somewhere. I use this box to listen to digital radio via PC speakers and occasionally switch on a BW portable to watch news 24.

    1) Some Freeview boxes do have an output through the aerial - this is not the same as a "loop through" so check very carefully

    2) buy one of these - http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=33050&doy=7m7

You need to look out for boxes that have an 'RF modulator' (Don't confuse that with an 'RF loop')

Just googling found this site that lists ones with a modulator with mod underneath

the best option in this case is a humax box, these are the only ones i am familiar with that have rf modulators.
well, they used to have them (i.e about 3 months ago when i looked for one for my friend)
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)

Does it have a female RCA/Phono connector?

If so, you can buy a Scart to Phone adaptor for £5 or less. http://www.martleyelectronics.co.uk/cables/scart_adapters.htm and then use standard phono leads to connect the Freeview box to the TV and a HiFi system, if you have one.
