Best time for buying cars new or used, Jan sales, bank hols?

Cars will always be cheaper tomorrow.
I saw some of the best deals around just before Christmas. But generally speaking end of the month, end of the quarter and just before the reg changes. Saw an article yesterday saying sales are up but prices are down for second hand models.
Waiting for a bank holiday? Not in a rush then....lol
I tend to focus on the deal ie I will have a short list of possible makes/models which I will research and know what the relevant prices are so at any given time when I see a move I can decide whether it is a good deal or not.
Personally I don't like the feel of this economy and I think waiting might be a prudent move if you are not in hurry (needless to say I have just dealt)0
