This is all very well, but if you took this action and they refused to back down, you would have a default marked on your credit record which would damage your ability to borrow in future. And all over £25.

Agree completely with MarkyMarkD - there's no need whatsoever for them to have waived the fee and it would cost them a lot less than £25 to default you. There may still be late payments on your credit history

Sorry Yorkshire boy but horse & bolted come to mind. I know I did wrong and hands up to that, however I know my error but feel the punishment not fitting the crime. Its easy to sit in smug castle and say its easy just send payment on time, however that has now gone and cant be altered. The thing is I accept I should have sent it earlier but, I could have gone on about things at home etc but that is not the question. MBNA have told me the payment was received 'next day' so for one day I have 1. been charged £25.00 2.charged £65 Interest 3.the next 6 months @ £65 per month (assuming I pay the minimum amount). My appeal was for constructive advice which is what Kazza kindly gave me and my remark was to prevent further hurt at my error. So in essence I could end up paying £480+ for what was ultimately 1 day which I find totally ridiculous and that is what has made me so mad, so I apoligize if I sounded a triffle rude and if your remarks to me prevent another from feeling the painful backhand from MBNA then I duly give you thanks .

What's ridiculous, is that you are given a 0% loan by any credit card company. In return for this completely unreasonable generosity, you are expected to comply with the conditions. You didn't.

You aren't being charged £480 for one day's error. You are being charged £480 for borrowing the money for 6 months. That's fair enough and it's the deal you signed up to.

BUT they agreed to let you have the same money for free, if you bothered to comply with the conditions.

Paying ANY sort of bill by post is just ridiculous given the unreliability of the postal service. And as the other posts have said, allowing 4 days is not enough at all.
