how to remove messenger 4.7 frm winxp

anyone know how to remove msn messenger 4.7 which comes in sp2 in win xp. i have tried everything like add/remove etc but its still there. it logs in automatically with my new msn 7.0. what to do?

goto the control panel, double click Administrative tools, then double click services, scroll down the list until you see messenger, right click on messenger then select properties, change the start up type to disabled and then click the stop button. click apply then ok and windows messenger will now be disabled and won't run during start up.Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.0

or cheat like I did and just go to the folder and rename the exe file to something different....:)
it's needed for XP remote (where someone else con access you desktop or you access theirs) so I did'nt want to remove itEx forum ambassador
