Currently I have a 2 way/ 2 gang dimmer switch but wish to change to a standard switch in order to use low energy bulbs.
Connections are :-
Top of switch L1 Empty, L2 Blue & Com yellow
Bottom L1 Yellow, L2 Blue & Com red (2 wires)
One gang is used for the centre lights - switched 2 way, the second is for the wall lights, single switched
I bought an Mk 2 way 2 gang switch and swapped the wires over exactly as above but none of the lights will come on. Changed back to dimmer everything works fine.
What am I doing wrong ?
Many thanks

You can buy dimmable low energy bulbs."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Your problem is caused by the different layout of the terminals on the two switches. On the dimmer, the terminals at the top of the switch are for one circuit and the bottom for the other. On the "normal" switch, the terminals on the left are for one switch and on the right are for the other. Does this make sense?
So, if you connect Blue from L2 on the top of the dimmer to L2 on the left, Yellow from Com on the top of the dimmer to Com on the left. Yellow from L1 on the bottom of the dimmer to L1 on the right, Blue from L2 on the bottom of the dimmer to L2 on the right and Red from Com on the bottom of the dimmer to Com on the right. That should do it.
I have assumed that centre switch is to be switched by the switch on the right and the wall lights to be switched by the switch on the left. If you want them the other way round, swap left and right above.
If you are not sure, ask again and I will try to find some pictures which may help clarify what I'm trying to say.0
