I'm I Right in saying PC worlds repair policy has a clause in giving them a certain amount of time to repair your PC, or they will replace it.?
I was taking to one of my friends last night, and his PC is in for repair under insurance at PC world, but it been there since before Christmas!! and they are still waiting for a part.

That probably depends on whether its his own PC bought from somewhere else that he took in to PC World to get repaired - or one of their PCs which is back under warranty to be repaired.0

Yes for sure.
As despicable as Gary Glitter's activities may have been, I can't for the life of me fathom out why his solicitor didn't ask for the evidence provided by PC World against him to be struck out on the grounds that it wasn't obtained legally.

Maybe the CPS already offered him a deal or something instead of a lengthy trial. The PC world stuff was "evidence" for media stories, it was never actually used in court. GG is plainly a genuine paedophile but it does highlight that simply the accusation alone is enough to admit guilt (whether actually guilty or not) in order to get past it quickly and reduce the public damage. In GG's case I think it backfired because he got a harsher sentence than he was expecting. In someone like Pete Townshend's case, he accepted a caution even though he hadn't done anything wrong and later independant forensic examination of his computers showed he'd not accessed the sites he was accused of accessing. In the subject of paedophile accusations, actual evidence had very little to do with it and more to do with running people over with the accusation alone which in most of Joe Publics' eyes makes you guilty. They do catch genuine paedophiles but unfortunately the tactic sweeps up a lot of innocent people as well."She is quite the oddball. But today's kiddie-!!!!!! is tomorrow's "oooh look, bank/credit card details and passwords" and next week's "hey Sharon, we've got the logs of your ICQ chats with the bloke you're having an affair with".
Anyone using PC World for a pc repair would have to be seriously messed up in the head. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

I think that's one great justification for encrypting our data, I just don't want any pc repairer reading my email etc. Although probably wouldn't affect me personally as I repair my own pc. But in general probably not wise to let an employee of any company have free reign of your pc data. As you say it doesn't have to be illegal for you not to want people to see it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
