  • About 1.80 for a dozen jumbo free range (and they really are jumbo) from the fruit and veg stall in the market. You usually get at least 2 double yolkers in a dozen too!

There`s a bloke who comes on our local weekly market (tues) and sells fresh eggs for £1.80 for a dozen large. He even has a sign up telling when they were layed and sell by date on them.

I sometimes get a veg box delivery and the company I use sells half a dozen large free range eggs for 80p a box...I think the medium ones are 60p...so if you get a veg delivery or buy stuff from farm shops, I think this is where you can get good regular prices..

  • Thanks for all your replies, my husband is the orginal Victor Meldrew and hasn't stopped complaining about the price of those eggs so I have decided to swop him in for a laying hen so that I can have my eggs and soldiers in peace!
