I would've put them back at that price! I pay 89p a dozen from Lidl.0

I noticed Tesco Value eggs had gone up from 65p to 73p for 6 the other week.
But I'd also spotted a small local greengrocer sells big eggs, obviously from a local supply, at 65p/half dozen. So I've been buying those (twice the size each)... although this week even they had risen to 69p/6.
I find Asda cheapest eggs, packs of 15, seem to be the best value for size/price. With Somerfields packs of 15 being next. I don't know the price of these or how they've changed in the last 3 months though.0 -
They have gone up quite a bit over the past few weeks, as has butter!
I pay £1.80 for a dozen free range eggs from a local farm, have just gone up from £1.60 so not too bad.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

They have all gone up because feed is more expensive - in September the prices here had already risen by 10% due to the price of grain.
But also at this time of year hens do not lay as well and the cold and the wet has really not helped! My chickens gave up in October and the farmer down the road from me is saying that his yield is very poor despite having almost 600 free range chooks that still need to be fed.
So more to feed them and less of them about means its a sellers market.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
I'm a bargain hunter but won't buy cheap eggs after having seen how the battery chickens are kept. I have nothing against eating animals and their 'by-products' (had a very nice lamb chop tonight!!) but like to think that they have at least been kept humanely
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!0 -
