I am moving house to live in Ireland. What is the best way to exchange a sum of around £200,000 for euros? Removal firm has promoted CurrenciesDirect, which says it is backed by HSBC. Is a specialist firm like this a good idea?

I'd use a professional foreign exchange company in the city. Our IFA recommended one for the in-laws and the saving was absolutely massive compared to using Lloyds TSB in the high street.
It will pay to shop around certainly.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I would'nt buy a place in euros, some terrible council estates near there.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber

I use Currencies Direct regularly and have had no problems with them.
Although, the Euro exchange rate is very POOR at the moment. I wouldn't be buying anything in Euros.0 -
I used HIFX, and they are very competative. There was an article in last Sunday's Times which said they gave the best exchange rates.
