Showers ..how do i know if mine is a 10kw?

Options
Hi guys

My old shower is leaking badly and the water is running over the corner of my bath and down through to my kitchen ceiling. I have already had a bad leak and had to get the kitchen redecorated, but it looks like its happening again.

Basically I have a Gainsborough 1000 electric shower (about 6-8 yrs old) and the water is not much more than a trickle now. Each time we use it the water collects at the back of the bath and goes over the corner ..therefore onto the floor and down to the kitchen.

I have a shell design bath suite and have been told I can't fit a screen to it cos it won't fit.

I have been advised to get a 10kw shower as the power should keep the water away from the back of the bath.

Now.. apparently I have to have a thick cable (like a cooker cable?!?!) in order to have a 10k shower.. how do i kno if I have this already??

Also.. I don't have any money to buy a new bath ..so thats not an option..unfortunately :(

Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance :)

To find cable size required you divide the load by the volts eg 10000w / 230v = 44( there are other factors to take in cable routing , insulation, cross sectional area of cpc etc but will give you an idea to start) 6mm to 10mm

Water is running down from behind my shower?
There are 2 likely causes for this:
    1. A poor connection to the water supply pipe is leaking. Remove the cover and check for the leak. If it is the inlet call back your installer.
    2. The Pressure Relief Device has blown. This safety device, just above the hose connection, prevents the unit from bursting in a situation of too much pressure in the heater. Please ensure that only the hose and handset supplied with the unit are used and that they are free from scale. NO OTHER HOSE OR HANDSET ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THE UNIT.
The red outlet cover cap must be removed during installation before the water supply is connected or a similar result will occur.
