Free stuff for Uni students

Options
Im off to University in september, so I've decided to start collecting free stuff to take with me. Anything anybody else finds can be added. I've currently got
-The Jack Daniels desktop calander
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=630625

-2 dressing gowns and a set of mugs using Nescafe pick me ups (even though i bought the benas off ebay :D , and technically it's not a freebie as you still have to pay postage)

Any other uni related freebies people find will be great!

  • i heard a while ago about a discount train card think that was with a bank

    Yeah, that's the Young Persons Railcard. I got it free with Natwest (I think). you will have to check what the banks are offering free, last time I got an mp4 player from HSBC and the Young Persons Railcard.

    Apply for your bank accounts, even if you don't want to use them! There's no harm in applying for the accounts - doing as they say (some will state that you have to credit your account a certain amount, e.g. £500 within a month of opening the account, so read the small-print, ask them what the catches are, do as they say.. once you get your freebies take out your money, and close your account. :A

    P.S.. The young persons railcard is around £20 per year if bought and saves loads!!

    e.g. Sheffield ---> Birmingham = £32.30
    with railcard = £21.30

    If you're planning on going home for family.. work out if railcard will give you more than £20 discount through the whole year - if so it's worth buying. Or better still, find the right account, apply, and get it free!

  • They were by the tills in our store, there was a sign up advertising them.

    Maybe phone CS if your store doesn't have them.

    I'll have a look for them when I go in next and see if I can grab a few.

    You also get the 5% off the reduced things. :)
