Hi, new to credit cards here.
I just recently got my first credit card last spring to build up some good credit history. It has horrible APR and no benefits.

Some research is needed to select the appropriate cards that provide a benefit to you rather than the credit card company. This may seem tiresome and dull but it does save you money so well worth it.
You should be able to apply for and be accepted for a card at least every quarter depending on your circumstances ,salary, home owner, married etc.
Good luck.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0 -
If you pay off the balance every month the APR should make no difference as you should not pay any interest.
If you are paying interest then you did not 'take it out to build up a credit history' as you put it.
First thing to do IMO is pay £2 and get a copy of your credit files.
That will determine whether anybody will lend to you.0
