Hi,
Don't know if anyone has experience of this but we are knocking an old fire place out to put my cooker in.
The bricks have soot on them and I want to paint the bricks white preferably without plastering first.
Does anyone know how to go about this to stop the paint going Grey?!

I would surgest P V A it looks terrible when you do it as it will go grey but once dry it will be sealed so you can paint, if you use an oil based undercoat before final coat, will be ok.0
