Dodgy Gumtree 'rental' replies?

As you probably already know they are all scams. I found the best way was to just keep a look out and not bother posting under the wanted. They normally make up some excuse for not being able to meet up and want some funds transferred through Western Union which is untracable to prove that you have the money to pay rent. Always, always, meet up with the people at the advertised location to see if they are genuine.0

i found a flatshare in aberdeen using gumtree, although for that one flat i had god only knows how many emails like that trying to scam me. i found that the one genuine poster was willing to meet for a coffee first before we even talked about money.
im aware that is the minority but there are some genuine landlords/flatshares out there so dont give up hope.Debt free 3 years early :j
Savings for house deposit - very healthy
Cash back earnt so far £14.570 -
If you try to send funds by Western Union they should make you sign form FW1 Fraud Warning.
The form includes helpline numbers

and OFT 020 7211 81110 -
I saw an episode of one of those scam programmes that was specifically about people using gumtree rental adds to scam people somehow, I'm really sorry but can't remember much detail now. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm a bit miffed that the advert I just found on Gumtree is a scam! The 3 double bedroom flat in Angel, N1 sounded amazing for £820 per month inclusive of bills and with all mod cons, but of course, too good to be true!
Damn scammers!

Oh dear, a 3 bedroom flat in central London including bills for less than the cost of a studio flat excluding bills, and it wasn't genuine? Tsk. I hope for that fake price that some of those bedrooms were ensuite.0 -
Hey, cut the sarcasm Jowo, of course I knew it was a scam, I just wish it wasn't! Tsk yourself.0

Just thought I would share - my nephew is looking for a flat via gumtree, had lots of awful places to look at and then these wonderful ones come up! Thought I'd add emails so you could see...shame I can't show you the photos - if it has glass bricks on the bottom of the bed, a single sofa and a little kitchen (all furniture black) in a period property with tall windows, then it's a scam!0

I would love to meet you, get to know you and show you round the flat so that you can see what you are renting but I have had problems with time wasters who could not keep to there end of deal despite the fact that i have made the rent so low considering the economic climate in London. Its really time wasting because i am a very busy person and do not really have much time to waste. Please understand that i am NOT asking you to pay for what you have not seen.People have told me that they will pay upon us meeting if they are satisfied but mostly they don't have the cash at hand to pay me,everyone of them is looking for a free or cheaper flat to rent despite the fact that i have made the rent Cheap.
Can you please answer the following questions?
-Are you really serious about the renting the Flat?
-If you love the flat when you see it and interested in renting, will you make the payment to hold it against your move in or would you like to move in the same day?
Kindly get back to me about an idea on what we can do so that we can arrange a meeting for viewing.
Regards,
Steven0
