Free 'shuttle' flights!

Hi,
I'm sure that this subject has come about before on this site but I thought I'd share my top travel tip anyway...
A lot of longhaul destinations operate via Heathrow and this is obviously a bit of a pain for those who don't live too close. Well, if you're flying with an airline whom are part of the major conglomerates i.e One World or Star Alliance then should be able to get a free 'shuttle' flight from your regional airport with a UK airline within the same conglomerate (eg flying out of Heathrow with Cathay Pacific then you'll get a free shuttle flight with British Airways from Manchester or wherever as they're both in the One World group).
You'll probably have to pay the additional taxes but these aren't much and sometimes free. A lot of travel agents - particularly those in large call centres - aren't aware that you can do this so you'll have to ask for it. Be adamant with them though! I've done this a few times and it's always worked and it's saved me plenty of cash.
