Spraying picture frames

I do not know anything about this, but can you spray paint a picture frame?

I've seen a over mantle mirror on ebay that has a gold frame, but i want it silver, so could i spray paint it?? Or does it look nasty when its done, am i better of looking for one that is silver, or could i buy the mirror and get a silver frame fitted for it.

Just trying to save money, mirror is only at £5 so need advice on what i should do.

Thanks

I've spray painted mirror & picture frames successfully in the past. You just have to be very careful to completely cover the glass with protective paper & to be precise in using masking tape to hold it in place to give you a perfect straight finish on the frame.

Or you can buy small tins of metalic paint to do it by hand if you prefer. I've used this on a really old ornate frame I bought from a charity shop years ago.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
