Having spent the last eight years on many many different parks in France, my top tip for this year (and I can't believe I haven't done it before!) is to find a site you like the look of in one of the main brochures, i.e. Siblu, French Life, Canvas Holidays, Keycamp - they are all pretty much the same and offer a lot of the same holiday parks. Once you've found one you like, do a search on the internet until you find the direct website for the park, then book direct. I've just done this for a site in the Loire called Parc des Alicourts, which is absolutely fantastic, usually costs us around £1,500 to £2,000 with Keycamp but I managed to get it for £610 for 14 nights for a three bedroom cottage with a decked terrace! Cannot believe I haven't done this before. You do have to pay for your own crossing but the Eurotunnel is only £148 in peak season and you can use your Tesco vouchers for this! Definately worth a look with other sites as I am sure it will be similar. We are going for a fortnight from the last week in August.
Hope this is of some use!0 -
Many of the sites in the English brochures are yelloh village sites:

and as Dijor says, it's cheaper to book direct. Prices are dramatically lower for the last week in August, if you can leave it until the end of the school hols.
http://www.alanrogers.com/ is good for researching campsites and reviews.0 -
We've used Keycamp, but the last few years we've used this company:

They're quite a bit cheaper and the accommodation is just as nice, but they don't do kids' clubs.0 -
do people tend to go via eurotunnel and then drive........for 8 hours to the likes of brittany or the vendeee?smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

It depends whereabouts in the UK you live!
I live in sunny Cornwall so would usually take an overnight ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff if we're holidaying in Brittany or the Vendee. For the Loire, which is pretty much central, it doesn't really matter where you catch your ferry from! Dover Calais is def the cheapest, Plymouth Roscoff works out to over £600 for a return crossing, which I am unable to find any cheaper.0 -
Hi there, I booked a really good deal on Activitybreaks.com for the past 3 years, a lovely beachside mobile home and it was really really cheap, that was in the South of France but I think they do have lots of other options, Hope that helps and that you find what you're looking for!0

Have a look at the website for Carisma mobile home holidays, I know some people on the Old-Style board use them regularly. Apparently good value and they have sites in the ares you're after.
