Car insurance/union member

Hello everyone, sorry if this has been done before. Just tried for a car insurance quote for my wife, noticed in the general 'assumptions' made by the site, one is that you are not a union member. Shame, because the quote was really good (£65). If they hold you to this, they could decline a claim if it is found you are a union member. Or am I wrong. Please.

First off it's a new one on me.
You don't say which site made this assumption. It seems an odd question to ask when getting a motor insurance quote since union membership should not be a rating factor.
Some firms do offer discounts to union members though - Frizzels being one of the major players in this field. If that was the case, the price might be even better.0 -

perhaps it defaults this way as you may get a discount being a union member.

Rang Swiftcover, they don't know anything about it, so we'll take the cover at £65 and read the policy document I suppose.0
