As as400 states, these 3 agencies are entirely independant. If you need to correct mistakeson all 3 records, then you need to notify all 3 independently.

As an addition to what welnik says, the CRA's only show financial hisotry for the last 6 years. If the creditor doesn't update the entry within 6 years it is dropped of your file, but they can keep re-applying any un-settled debts. Essentially, this means that if a creditor was particularly mean, a default on your file could stay there for years!

I can remember exactly, but I'm also pretty sure that repossesions or mortgage problems stay on your file for 12 years.

I've had issues with entries on my file and actually had them removed because I disputed it with the CRA, who then get in touch with the creditor. The creditor can't be bothered with the hassle so doesn't respond and by default, the "bad" entry is removed after 21 days :)

I personally think that there should be an industry standard agency which compile all info and is universally referred to,at the moment its too hit and miss,a good report with one could be crap with the other!
Its about time this happened as far as im concerned.

I agree with you on that. You could have a "good" credit record with one and a "tainted" record with another. If the lender happens to check with the "tainted" one and not the "good", then you good be stuck.

I understand your views and can see why, but they are commercial entities and so, would not be able to act in that way.

I believe the Hunter Search that Lenders have access to can do this.

By the way MParter, I like your signature.

I too, used to think I was a schizophrenic, but I'm in two minds now!!!!
