Talk Talk customers call each other free

I have recently registered with Talk Talk. Apparently if I phone other people who are registered with them, all calls are free. It occurs to me that I should get all my friends and family to register so that we can talk to each other for nothing and if we want to phone anywhere else use 1899, 18866 or one of the other cheaper providers. That way my bill from Talk Talk would always be zero for those that I call most frequently. Has anyone else tried this?

dearie dearie me!, where have you been ?. Clearly you are new to this world of moneysaving and especially this site. It would be all to easy for me or anyone else to be smart, but suffice to say, one of Martins top tips for what seems like ages, has been to do just what you suggest.
No 1, ensure you are on Option 1 with BT.
No 2, register with talktalk but use only weekends and evenings. = no bill.
No 3, register with 18866 and pay a connection to uk landlines fee of 2p and talk free between 8-6 Mon-Fri
The result of this is no charge with talktalk and a greatly reduced charge for calls made via 18866 abd this is billed via BT on your line rental.
Once you have taken this on board, you might like to introduce 1899 as they appear to be cheaper for landline to mobile calls.
Before you embark on the above, I would recommend you do two things,
1) read Martins home telephone thread and
2), be prepared to become a party bore, as once you've done the above, you won't be able to stop talking about all the savings you make. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Tele2.co.uk are doing free evening & weekend calls until the end of this year. Tele2's free calls are of any length (unlike TalkTalk) to any geographical number (those beginning 01 or 02).0 -
Oh, I didn't realise that. I assume that those of us that signed up whilst the free weekend and evening calls promotion was on, will continue to enjoy this? and then presumably after our twelve month contract has elapsed, will have to pay ?.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. After I'd read the above post, thought I'd look at talktalk website. I then decided I'd look at my bill on-line.......PROBLEMS !
Because I'd changed from dial-up to BB a month or so ago, I'd changed my email address, it didn't seem to recognise my imput, then there was the issue of password which proved a problem.
I dug out all correspondence to see if I'd made a note, then realised I haven't had a paper bill/notification since Feb.
An added concern is that I have two seperate phone numbers on my account.
No doubt I will have to make an expensive 0870 call to talktalk to sort things out, at least I can prefix with 1280.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

But if your not ringing from a Talk Talk regd line. Call Freephone
08000 855 900 press Option 1 for landline queries.and Option 2 for Broadband.
Another advantage of Talk Talk is with the intro of Talk Talk business, you will in the longterm be able to call a lot of small businesses for free.
